Help Us Keep Maria Alvarado's Home Dry
Maria Alvarado was Walk the Talk Missions' first recipient of a new home. Maria's home sits in front of a 10-foot cliff that is susceptible to mudslides during the rainy season. To keep her home dry, we engineered a temporary PVC drainage system to prevent mud from clogging the drain; however, due to the recent heavy rainfall, the solution quickly failed. Maria's daughters' room is currently flooded. Walk the Talk is raising funds to build a retaining wall and a concrete drain system to keep Maria's home dry and protected.
A single mother of 3, Maria dedicates her life to protecting her children and drawing them closer to each other. She works packing chicken and her son Eduardo works in a factory to help Maria manage expenses.
